| About Me “How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding. For her profit is better than the profit of silver and her gain better than fine gold” (Proverbs 3:13-14). My calling to a pursuit of wisdom and knowledge began in the seventh grade as I sat in a dorm room at Oklahoma Baptist University during summer camp and clearly felt the Lord compelling me toward a life of service. My perspective on life was revolutionized. From that day on, I have been convinced that the Lord was guiding me to ministry. As I continued through schooling, I became heavily involved in my youth group, attending any camp or teaching session I could attend. At my high school, the group, Redskins for Christ, was a new opportunity to strengthen my faith. Redskins gave me my first chance to teach and my first chance to lead a variety of ministry-focused events. In the same way, my youth minister gave me several occasions to speak to the youth group during my junior and senior years. These opportunities only furthered and confirmed my heart's conviction to strengthen my understanding of the Word of God for the purpose of ministry. The next step in my journey was to select a college that would inspire my faith while also giving me an excellent education; I was led to Oklahoma Baptist University. In order to prepare my thinking and skill set for future seminary work, I chose to become an applied communication major and a Bible minor. The motivation for determining my major area of study was to develop an understanding of how best to engage others. I wanted to take these four years to assess the communication acts within organizations, families, and small groups and discover how best to share meaning and analyze strategies that are likely to influence positive discussions. I’ve learned that more than sharing information, listening to others share information is one of the best ways to engage others, to dignify their concerns and dreams, and to reflect the love of Christ. My Bible minor kept me on track to pursue seminary by keeping me focused on how to think through the scriptures from a scholarly perspective. Within my selected major and minor I have been given the opportunities to develop my skills in communication of many kinds as well as build a more educated faith in an environment of fellow believers. In the midst of my class work, I was given incredible chances to stretch my intellectual and spiritual understandings through my courses assignments. The Information Gathering and Research course allowed me the opportunity to analyze and generate my own research paper on a topic of my choice. I had no idea that pursuing an original research project could be such a blessing. By the end of the semester, my paper, Pursuing the Third Great Awakening, taught me a great deal about thinking, organization, analysis, and synthesis. This was life changing research as I studied how, through the past, the younger generation played a key role in the great awakenings of the past. With the research class experience, I was better prepared for what was to come the next semester in the hermeneutics course. Without question, God used the hermeneutics course to transform my spiritual journey. I cannot look at Scripture in the same way. This course has taught me to deeply analyze and search for the context and message of the word of God, rather than simply reading for the sake of reading. These studies have led to an even deeper passion for the consistent study of the word of God. I have gotten to exercise this passion in the local church as for three years I have spent my summers as the youth intern at South Tulsa Baptist Church and one year as the summer Youth Minister at Brookside Baptist Church. Filled with opportunities to teach and lead, this experience has been used by God to also confirm my calling. I find that one of the greatest joys in life is watching God move in the coming generation. The youth of today are the church of the future. Therefore, they must be prepared! If the world is to change, then the generation to come must be disciples who understand the word of God and is prepared to stand firm in those truths. Extracurricular Activities and Involvement

Aspirations
If I am to hope to play my role as a teacher and leader for the generation to
come, then I myself must be properly educated. My undergraduate studies
have been incredible and my ministry has been effective, but a pursuit of
further instruction will only serve to better cultivate the fruit of my life.
Therefore, I feel seminary would be an incredible blessing to my ministry
and service.
